Dr. Paul O'Neill Scholarship
Daniel Rees has been chosen to receive the 2015 and 2016 Dr. Paul O’Neill Scholarships due to his academic excellence and passion for research, which he has applied to the study of Newfoundland and Labrador’s history. Daniel is in his third year of undergraduate studies at Memorial University, majoring in Archaeology. He is conducting ongoing research on the Maritime Archaic Indians at Port au Choix, examining the relationship between disease and social status. He was chosen to join a team of underwater-archaeologists that conducted mapping of historical shipwrecks in North Carolina. He hopes to apply this experience to shipwrecks in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Historic Sites Association congratulates Daniel on his achievements and hopes the Dr. Paul O’Neill Scholarship helps him in his studies. We look forward to following his work in the future.
