Lanseauxmeadowsboardwalk

HSA provided $38,000 over three years for the enhancement of the presentation of aboriginal history at L’Anse Aux Meadows.

Funding from the HSA from 2009 to 2012 was used to address the lack of aboriginal content relative to the site's aboriginal history before and after the Norse arrival.  New exhibits in the visitor centre, new aboriginal content in the new video as well as landscape features at the aboriginal hearths on site ( iron flames that dot the landscape) support the visitor's understanding and appreciation of aboriginal peoples that took shelter in this bay.  The last stage of funding was used to build an expanse of boardwalk and a viewing platform  to support protection of these very important archaeological areas and to provide a viewpoint for the hearths and interpretive stopping point where programming can be delivered.
