The Grumpy Goat Gallery:
The Grumpy Goat Gallery was founded in Upper Island Cove in 2003 by self-taught artists Cara Kansala and Max Dorey. Their artwork is a whimsical interpretations of outport life inspired by their colourful surroundings, and by tales told by neighbours, locals and friends. Ideas for new mixed-media pieces often spring into Cara’s mind fully formed. The two then collaborate to create their one-of-a-kind, three-dimensional carvings. Their unique blend of colour, humor, and Newfoundland culture has led to wide-recognition for their folk art style and thousands of loyal fans.
The artists are now parting ways to work on their own solo endeavors. The Water Street Gallery is proud to host The Grumpy Goat Gallery’s final collaborative exhibition “Fair Winds and Following Seas” taking place November 13th to December 24th, 2016. This is the seventh and final Christmas show Cara and Max have held with the Heritage Shop at The Water Street Gallery.
